In 2016, the Festival celebrated its first five years of existence, consolidating its efforts in becoming a meeting point between Mexico, the United States and Canada’s film industries. Of the 45 films screened during the Festival, more than 80% were premieres. That year, as part of the Industry platform, Los Cabos Meet-Mart was also launched: a meeting point where all those involved in the creation, production, distribution, marketing and exhibition of independent cinema meet.

TRIBUTE TO OLIVER STONE: Three time Oscar-winner Director, screenwriter and producer Oliver Stone presented his films Snowden (2016), JFK (1991) and Salvador (1986).
TRIBUTE TO RODRIGO PRIETO: Mexican cinematographer who presented the films Biutiful by Alejandro González Iñárritu, Lust Caution by Ang Lee and The Wolf of Wall Street by Martin Scorsese.LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TO MONICA BELLUCCI: Italian actress who presented the Latin American Premiere of On the Milky Road (2016), by Emir Kusturica.
