HISTORIAS SIN TIEMPO

OF PLASTIC ARTIST

EL NACHO

The Los Cabos International Film Festival honors the legacy of plastic artist “El Nacho” by presenting the virtual exhibition Historias sin tiempo (Timeless Stories), in the context of its ninth edition.

Born in Mexico City, “El Nacho” studied fine arts at the Ontario College of Art & Design University and he later chose Los Cabos as his home, a place where he could work on his paintings, his series of artist notebooks and books, his printing workshop and gallery Casa Ballena, located in the picturesque town of La Playa.

The multifaceted artist rediscovered Los Cabos through his art, and is responsible for creating the Los Cabos International Film Festival’s highest award, a statuette in the shape of one of the most ancient creatures to roam the waters of the Baja California Peninsula: the whale. This marine mammal jumped right out of his imagination into the hands of greatly talented and world renowned filmmakers in the most recent editions of this filmic event.

The Los Cabos International Film Festival invites the general public to enjoy the virtual exhibition devoted to “El Nacho” on its official website from the 11 to the 19 of November. It will include the artist’s latest creations, from his screen prints and paintings inspired by the Book of Kells and his series Seres Escondidos (Hidden beings) that reflect his typical engravings, up to his iconic bronze whales.

With the virtual exhibition produced by Casa Ballena,, the Festival pays tribute to its cultural promoter, celebrating the artist that sculpted Los Cabos from a unique perspective, capturing it in its most beautiful form.
